Finance Minister launches development awareness program

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa has launched an awareness program targeting all District Secretaries, on the supervision of regional development projects initiated under the 2022 Budget allocations.

Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs, M.H.M. Chithrananda stated that the District Secretaries were informed in this regard via Zoom.

Under the 2022 Budget, a sum of Rs. 85 Billion was previously allocated for Regional Development and Infrastructure Development projects.

Accordingly, the first part of this allocation has been released for utilization.

Secretary Chithrananda said the supervision of every Regional Development Project by a public official has been made a mandatory requirement this year as well.

Steps have also been taken to release all funds allocated for Regional Development from this year's budget, via District Secretaries.
