COLOMBO (News 1st); It would take a few more weeks to rectify the current gas shortage, says the Litro Gas Chairman, Thushara Jayasinghe.
Litro Gas also stated that it has increased the number of domestic gas cylinders released to the market daily to 90,000.
Its Chairman Thushara Jayasinghe said that the daily stock of gas cylinders being issued has been increased by about 30,000.
He also said that due to the recall of cylinders in the market and the new standardization process, there have been some obstacles in releasing the cylinders to the market.
The Chairman said that Litro Gas currently has sufficient stocks of gas.
He mentioned that a gas vessel carrying 3,700 metric tons of gas is currently anchored in the Keralawalapitiya sea and that the stock of gas could be distributed after testing its quality.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Laugfs Gas W.K.H. Wegapitiya stated that the release of gas cylinders to the market has been hampered due to non-issuance of letters of credit.
Long queues were seen in many areas on Wednesday (05) due to gas shortages as well.
