COLOMBO (News 1st); A number of crises have been created in the past 24 months, however that is not the legacy of the current administration, says State Minister Kanchana Wijesekera.

Speaking further, the State Minister said that the relevant crises were inherited due to the weaknesses in the management of the country for a long time, which worsened along with the pandemic.

Adding that cost of living had increased in many countries, the State Minister said that such crises are beyond their control.

Moreover,  Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that both the political authority and the public service have become defendants in face of the society as both parties must be responsible for the state of the country.

Speaking at an event held on Wednesday (05), the Minister stated that accusations from the society cannot be avoided when every one person out of 2,500 is a Member of the Parliament and when every one person out of 14 is a public servant.

In the country's 73 years of history, public service was sadly used as a tool for retail politics, the Minister added.
