COLOMBO (News 1st); Sixteen Sri Lankan migrant workers who were unable to return to Sri Lanka due to various issues while working in Oman have returned to Sri Lanka this morning (02).
Speaking to News 1st, Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) Spokesperson Mangala Randeniya stated that the returnees were reported to have been subjected to various forms of harassment by their employers, including non-payment of wages.
Moreover, Randeniya stated that the migrant workers were subjected to several forms of harassment due to the fact that they were not registered with the SLBFE at the time of leaving.
