Police arrest carjacker in Kegalle

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Divisional Crimes Detective Bureau of Kegalle has arrested a suspect who drugged a taxi driver and hijacked the vehicle. According to Police, the suspect had previously hijacked another car and a three-wheeler in the same manner. The suspect had reserved taxis online and hijacked vehicles by offering the drivers various types of drug-laced beverages, Sri Lanka Police said. The suspect is a 33-year-old resident of Epitawela. Moreover, Police noted that another suspect who obtained vehicles on rent and sold them with fraudulent documents was arrested in the Akurana area in Matale. According to Police, the suspect had sold a van obtained from a resident of Nawala Road, Rajagiriya, and a van obtained from a resident of Jaffna, by preparing fraudulent documents.
