COLOMBO (News 1st); The Presidential Committee appointed to probe gas-related accidents on Tuesday (21) said that Litro Gas was NOT in possession of a proper testing mechanism to inspect for leaks from gas cylinders.

Earlier in the day, Professor Shantha Walpola, the Chairman of the Committee appointed by the President to probe gas-related accidents, said that the cause of the reason for the recent gas explosions was the change in the composition of gas cylinders.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday (21), the professor said that the cylinders, regulators, and other equipment were inspected by the committee.

"The cylinder, regulators, and equipment never change. The only change was in the gas composition. This reached households," he said adding that the final observation by the committee was that the composition was changed in recent times.
