COLOMBO (News 1st): There will be NO price controls on any bakery products, with effect from midnight on Tuesday (Dec. 21), the Bakery Owners Association announced.

“Due to the fluctuating prices of goods in the local market, bakery products cannot be sold at the control prices,” N. K. Jayawardena, the Chairman of the Bakery Owners Association noted.

Jayawardena added that Bakery Owners are informed to sell their products at prices set on a daily basis, according to the supply and demand, like the vegetable traders in Pettah.

However, he urged Bakery Owners to follow alternative measures in this regard, without causing inconveniences to the consumers.
