Sri Lanka did not have any financial discipline: MP Weerakkody

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has fallen to this state as the Government did not work according to financial discipline, says Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP Chandima Weerakody.

Expressing his views on the economic situation of the country, MP Weerakkody says that Sri Lanka cannot work on its own and has to work along with other countries, and in such a context, the financial position of the country becomes important.

Pointing out that the country is close to going bankrupt, the MP said that it is doubtful whether the Government and the Finance Ministry are going to take swift steps towards its progress.

"Either we have to go to the IMF and act in a manner that the world accepts , or leave the IMF aside and work as a country that has financial discipline," he added.
