GMOA to go on strike on Monday (20)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) says that doctors in Government hospitals in five districts will go on a 24-hour token strike on Monday (20).

Accordingly, the union stated that the strike will be carried out in Mannar, Trincomalee, Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura and Polonnaruwa Districts.

The relevant strike will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday (20), against the appointment of doctors to hospitals without the approval of the transfer board.

However, the GMOA said that emergency medical services will remain operational despite the strike.
