Amber alert over low pressure area in Bay of Bengal issued

COLOMBO (News 1st) ; The Meteorology Department says that the low-pressure area lay over the South-East Bay of Bengal is likely to move east and northeastwards.

Accordingly, showers or thundershowers with wind speed of (40-50) kmph gusting up to (60-70) kmph can be expected over these sea areas.

An amber alert has been issued in this regard and fishing and naval communities have been advised to not to venture out to the seas until further notice.
