Sri Lanka to re-test liquid fertilizer & probe issues in local fertilizer

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Agriculture Department has decided to appoint a team to investigate issues surrounding the locally produced liquid fertilizer.

Director-General of Agriculture Dr. Ajantha De Silva speaking to News 1st said that the relevant teams were instructed to report on the situations experienced in farmlands after using the said fertilizer.

At the same time, Sri Lanka’s Fertilizer Secretariat had decided to re-test liquid fertilizer samples.

Its Director Chandana Lokuhewa said the samples will be obtained from the respective Assistant Directors.

It said that around 6 million liters of liquid fertilizer were distributed among local farmers.
