COLOMBO (News 1st); A five-judge bench of the Supreme Court began hearing fundamental rights petitions challenging the decision taken to transfer the state-owned shares of the Kerawalapitiya Yugadanavi power plant to US-based New Fortress Energy Inc.
A five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, comprises Justices Buwaneka Aluvihare, Priyantha Jayawardena, Vijith Malalgoda, L T B Dehideniya.
The petitions were filed by Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Venerable. Elle Gunawansa Thero, and several parties including the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and trade unions.
