Woman shot dead in Vavuniya by relative

COLOMBO (News 1st); A 33-year-old woman was shot dead in Mannar on Wednesday (15) afternoon.

Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa speaking to News 1st said the woman was shot dead when she was returning home with her mother in a motorcycle.

Investigations revealed that a relative of the deceased had carried out the shooting, and he had fled the area.

Investigations are underway to arrest him and the post-mortem examination will take place at the Vavuniya Hospital.
