COLOMBO (News 1st); Litro Gas told the Court of Appeal that there are definite standards that have been approved by the Standards Body with regard to the composition of gas cylinders in Sri Lanka.
Litro Gas also told the court on Wednesday (15) that measures will be taken to only release domestic gas cylinders to the market, which has the approval of the Sri Lanka Standards Institute.
Litro Gas also affirmed that it ONLY releases gas cylinders that meet the standards imposed by Sri Lanka Standards Institute.
It further told the Court of Appeal that a gas shortage in the market is inevitable for a short period when the cylinders already released to the market are recalled and new gas cylinders are distributed.
The Court of Appeal ordered Litro Gas to submit an affidavit on Thursday (16) with respect to the measures that would be taken over the distribution of domestic gas cylinders in Sri Lanka.
The order was made when a writ application seeking legal action under criminal law be taken against those responsible for the distribution of unsafe gas cylinders to the local market, was taken up on Thursday (15) with the court of appeal.
