COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka's Ministry of Health is exploring the possibility of administering the booster dose for all those over the age of 20-years. "The Director-General of Health Services will issue the relevant guidelines in this regard in the coming days. Once the guidelines are issued, those over 20-years can also obtain the booster jab and the MOH offices will issue further information," Dr. Hemantha Herath, the Deputy Director-General of Health Services said on Friday (Dec. 10). Commenting on children in the age group of 12-15-years, Dr. Hemantha Herath said the Advisory Committee on Communicable Diseases (ACCD) has recommended that only one dose be administered. According to Dr. Herath, the Advisory Committee on Communicable Diseases (ACCD) has recommended that two doses of the COVID-19 jab be administered to children aged between 16 to 19-years. "These vaccination drives targetting children will be launched in the future following discussions between the Education Ministry and the Health Ministry, upon preparing the relevant guidelines," Dr. Hemantha Herath noted.
