COLOMBO (News 1st): A vessel will reach the Sri Lankan waters on the 19th or 20th of January 2022, to remove the MV X-PRESS PEARL shipwreck from the Sri Lankan waters, the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) said on Friday (Dec. 10).
“The X-Press Feeders, operators of the container ship X-PRESS PEARL, has signed a contract with the China-based Shanghai Salvage Company (SCC) for the removal of the wreck,” Attorney-at-Law Dharshani Lahandapura, the Chairperson of MEPA told News 1st.
The agents of the Shanghai Salvage Company informed the Marine Environment Protection Authority on the process of removal and the vessel will enter the Sri Lanka waters in January 2022, Dharshani Lahandapura added.
