Gammadda & News 1st recognized by United Nations Volunteers

COLOMBO (News 1st); The ‘Gammadda Movement’ was recognized by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) for its contribution towards promoting and inspiring volunteerism in Sri Lanka.

The award for Gammadda was presented on Tuesday (7).

Gammadda is Sri Lanka’s largest grassroots movement, operating across all 25 Districts and supporting thousands of communities.

Gammadda was recognized by the UN in 2016, as a flagship humanitarian initiative at the inaugural UN World Humanitarian Summit.

In addition, News 1st was also given a Special Award by United Nations Volunteers.
