COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Agriculture says that issues have arise with regard to the role of the agent involved in the importation of nano nitrogen liquid fertilizer manufactured in India by the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative.
The Ministry stated that the importation of liquid fertilizer to Sri Lanka is being delayed due to this situation.
The Ministry of Agriculture revealed that this situation has arisen as the agent was not complying with respect to the agreement that was reached to import the nano nitrogen liquid fertilizer
However, the Ministry has instructed the Fertilizer Secretariat and the government fertilizer companies to intervene directly and submit a full report.
The Ministry of Agriculture said that a final decision on the situation would be taken this week.
The Ministry further stated that this problematic situation has arisen regarding the procedure of the local agent due to non-payment of required letters of credit when importing nano nitrogen fertilizer made in India.
