COLOMBO (News 1st); When the Hambantota Port is developed to a level where it can provide many facilities, it will become a dollar making scheme for Sri Lanka, says Minister Wimal Weerawansa. The Minister stated this while attending the occasion of Sri Lanka signing an agreement with a Chinese company to build a complex which would provide facilities to workers in the investment zone near the Hambantota Port. The Minister of Industries, speaking to media, stated that as of currently, Sri Lanka is facing a dollar crisis. He also emphasized on Sri Lanka developing dollar-generating avenues as well. Pointing out that regardless of what views are being expressed with regard to China and its investments, the Minister stated that the dollars generated when the Colombo Port City is operational will not go to China, but to Sri Lanka. When the Hambantota Port is brought to such a level, that facility can also provide a dollar inflow to the country, he added.
