COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka woke up on Friday (3) to the news that the government has decided to suspend the distribution of Gas with immediate effect, until further notice, after more than 50 incidents of gas explosions were reported from across the country in recent weeks.
On the same day, the entire country was left without electricity, with the CEB saying it will make attempts to restore power in several hours.
The power outage also resulted in water cuts across Colombo and its suburbs, and the power outage was reported while the CEB Engineers Union was engaged in a work-to-rule campaign.
