COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said that various forces are making attempts to control the country, that even the journalist do not understand how it is taking place.

He made this comment when awarding the Asidisi Insurance to journalists, the first of its kind in Sri Lanka.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa admitted that he shared information with the media when Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga (CBK) was President.

Rajapaksa said that when he used to attend Government meetings, the then President used to say he was the reporter in the Government, to which Rajapaksa has responded saying that he was only the editor and not a reporter.

Mahinda Rajapaksa served as a Cabinet Minister and later Prime Minister during Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga’s tenure as President.

The Prime Minister said although journalists can be instrumental in helping create a Government, they cannot defend it, as only the administrators can do so.
