Opposition Leader reveals of school facility fee charges

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa has requested the Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena to issue a circular stating that the collection of facility fees from school children should be suspended with immediate effect. Premadasa stated that it is important to intervene into these matters and inquire from education authorities with regard to charging facilities and service fees from students and cited an incident at the  Kuliyapitiya Central College, where one child is charged Rs. 3,000 and the second child Rs. 2,400 as facility fees. The Opposition Leader also urged the Education Minister to issue a circular suspending facility and service charges, to which Minister Dinesh Gunawardena responded stating that he will intervene into the matter.
