'Minimum fare Rs. 20/-," says Private Bus Owners; Transport Min. evades media

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Private Bus Owners want bus fares to be increased.

Chairman of the Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijeratne speaking to reporters said a proposal will be made to the National Transportation Commission next week to increase fares with effect from January 2022.

'The minimum fare should be Rs.20/-," he said on Wednesday (1).

However, when questions on possible fare hikes were raised, Transport Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi did not comment and evaded the cameras.
