COLOMBO (News 1st); Suppliers will cease sending goods to Sri Lanka, says former Provincial Councilor of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, Samantha Vidyaratne. Expressing his views on the state of the economy, Vidyaratne stated that with the Colombo Port being the main port in Sri Lanka, almost 1,000 containers have not been cleared as of yet due to letters of credit not being issued by banks. Speaking further, the former Provincial Councillor stated that ultimately, suppliers will stop sending goods to Sri Lanka because of this situation, and therefore some merchants from countries like Australia, India, and China will refrain from issuing goods on credit to Sri Lankan buyers.
