COLOMBO (News 1st); The Mayor of Kinniya has been arrested and produced before court in connection with the a ferry being capsized leading to the death of six people, including children, Police says.

Meanwhile, the owner of the private ferry and two operators were arrested yesterday (24) in connection with the Kinniya ferry accident, and have been remanded until 08th December.

Six people, including four school children, were killed when a used ferry capsized in the Kinniya Lagoon on 23rd November due to delays in the construction of a broken bridge.

Twenty people were injured in the accident, including school children.
