Extremely Rare & large Phenakite gemstone discovered in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); Phenakite, an extremely rare gemstone was discovered from Balangoda, Sri Lanka and it is owned by a businessman from Beruwala. According to the National Gem and Jewellery Authority, this is the largest Phenakite gemstone to be found in the country. Chairman of the Gem and Jewellery Authority, Thilak Weerasinghe said that this gemstone which weighs 616.9 carats, would be worth around Rs. 1 billion.
