COLOMBO (News 1st); All retail and wholesale shops at the Nuwara Eliya Dedicated Economic Center were closed today (21) in support of farmers demanding solutions to the fertilizer issue.
According to the News 1st correspondent, the purchase and loading of vegetables will not take place today.
However, today (21) morning the Ministry of Agriculture stated that a decision was reached to ensure that quality plant nutrients will be imported to the country once again.
It’s Secretary, Prof. Udith K. Jayasinghe stated that several plant nutrients, including Urea have been ordered following a risk management plan submitted by a group of agronomists and experts to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
