Panamura Death : Postmortem done, blood samples to be sent for tests

COLOMBO (News 1st); The postmortem examination of a suspect, who committed suicide while being detained at the Panamura Police Station was held at the Embilipitiya General Hospital yesterday (18). Accordingly, an open verdict has been given and the Judicial Medical Officer has recommended that the blood samples of the suspect be sent to the Analyst's Department for further tests. Dr. Munasinghe, a forensic specialist at the Embilipitiya General Hospital conducted an autopsy on the deceased. The suspect was arrested by Panamure police following complaints made of familial abuse. Relatives and villagers of the deceased appeared before the Panamure Police station to protest and alleged that the death was suspicious. Subsequently, the two Police personnel in charge of the suspect at the time were interdicted by the Minister of Public Defense. A heated situation also took place in front of the Embilipitiya Panamura Police Station as well.
