Watareka prison camp inmate escapes

COLOMBO (News 1st); An inmate at the Watareka Open Prison Camp in Padukka, who was assigned for work at a construction site in Colpetty, has escaped.

Sri Lanka Police said an operation is underway to apprehend the suspect, following a complaint lodged by a Prison official.

The inmate who escaped is identified as a 40-year-old resident of Bopitiya area in Kurunegala.
