Rate of Children with COVID-19 on the rise

COLOMBO (News 1st); Health officials say that there is a slight increase in the rate of children being admitted to hospitals due to COVID-19 recently. The Director at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH), Dr. G. Wijesuriya emphasized that adults should act responsibly to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among children. He further stated that there is a possibility of COVID-19 cases among children to further increase in the months of December and January, and urged the public to adhere to health safety measures. Meanwhile, the Deputy Director-General of Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath said the daily rate of COVID-19 patients that was brought down to 500 has now risen to 700 once again. He emphasized that, against such a backdrop, all citizens must act responsibly to ensure that the rate of COVID-19 patients do not increase.
