COLOMBO (News 1st); Former President Maithripala Sirisena said today (17) that sufficient attention has not been drawn with regard to the Polonnaruwa Kidney Hospital. Speaking at the Parliament today (17), former President Maithripala Sirisena stated that the budget allocations for Primary Health is extremely poor in Sri Lanka. Speaking further, Sirisena said that some have alleged that the Polonnaruwa Kidney hospital that was built using a donation from the Chinese Government will no longer be necessary once the country shifts from chemical to organic fertilizer. The former President also informed the Parliament that he is deeply saddened to say that the X-Ray facilities aren't even functioning in this hospital, and the hospital does not even have a director, whilst the laboratories are not functioning. " They have installed a C.T scan machine investing millions of rupees, but the facility has not been made available to the patients. There are also 6 operation theatres for kidney transplants, but none of those theatres are functioning. It is a major problem that a hospital director has not even been appointed," he added.
