COLOMBO (News 1st); State Minister Shehan Semasinghe says that there is a major accusation against the previous Government over the importing of dairy heifers.
Speaking at Parliament today (17), the Minister noted that the heifers were far below in number when compared to the money spent on the animals, and most of them died.
He further added that discussions will be held with the Ministry of Agriculture to conduct investigations with regard to this issue and present a clear answer to the House.
In reply, SJB Parliamentarian and party General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said, "These dairy heifers were imported pre-2015 during the tenure of Minister Basil Rajapaksa."
Minister Semasinghe vehemently opposed Basil Rajapaksa's involvement in the affair and made a mocking remark, saying that the opposition has shown the whole country as to who the real cows are by trying to promote COVID-19 at a time when the government is trying to control the virus.
