Several benefits granted to public servants slashed

COLOMBO (News 1st); The fuel benefit granted to public servants every month will be reduced by 5 liters, says Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa. Speaking at the Parliament during the Budget speech today (12), the Minister of Finance also presented the new measures which will be taken by the Government to increase the financial sector. Furthermore, he stated that electricity used a State Institutions will be subject to a reduction by 10% and to utilize solar power for electricity. Moreover, a Parliament member's minimum tenure has been increased for at least 10 years to receive pension, while a new salary mechanism will be implemented to remove all anomalies observed in the salary plans of all State sector servants. Additionally, the Finance Minister stated that no new office buildings will be constructed for the next two and half years than the buildings already in construction. An Integrated result based management system will also be implemented to assess the development achieved within the 2022-2024 period.
