IUSF's Wasantha Mudalige and four others released on bail

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Homagama Magistrates Court ordered to release of the five student activists including Wasantha Mudalige, the Convener of the Inter-University Students Federation (IUSF) on bail Thursday (Nov. 11). The five student activists have been in remand custody for over 100 days, for damaging public property during a protest. They were arrested on the 3rd of August this year. The court was informed of the damage that may cause to the student activists in the remand custody after testing positive for COVID-19, Attorney-at-Law Nuwan Bopage, appearing for the defence told media following the court proceedings. The bail was granted after considering these facts including several others, he further added.
