EXTREME WEATHER: Heavy rains expected over many provinces

COLOMBO (News 1st); Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North Western and Northern provinces as well as in the Galle and Matara Districts, the Meteorology Department says. The department said that heavy showers of more than 100 millimeters were expected in some parts of the country. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in other parts of the island during the evening or night, and heavy showers of more than 75 mm are possible in some places, it added.
