Woman dies after buried in rice following rice silo explosion

COLOMBO (News 1st); A 47-year-old woman died after she was buried under mounds of rice after a rice storage tank / silo exploded in Nochchiyagama.

Sri Lanka Police said the incident took place at a factory that produced bird feed.

The rice storage tank was 12 feet high and it had exploded on Saturday (6) morning and the woman was buried under the rice that came out following the explosion.

She was ruled dead upon admission to hospital. 

Investigations are underway.
