COLOMBO (News 1st); Army Commander General Shavendra Silva warned that the possibility of an increase in COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka cannot be disregarded due to the actions of a few, in the period when travel restrictions have been relaxed.
“At present, the death toll is limited to 10 or 20 per day,” said the Army Commander.
He said it is important to educate the people on the severity of the situation and also stressed the need to ensure that all those who are reluctant to get vaccinated, obtain the vaccine against COVID-19 before it’s too late.
“A small group has already breached guidelines by organizing trips for the long weekend. These actions could contribute to change the present situation,” he warned.
