Sri Lanka brought to its knees by China over rejected fertilizer, says Nalin Hewage

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former JVP Provincial Council member Nalin Hewage alleges that China has brought Sri Lanka to its knees with regard to the Chinese Fertilizer aboard the Hippo Spirit, which is currently in the Sea of Sri Lanka. Speaking to media today (03), the Former Provincial Council member stated that the ship continues to appear and disappear, and is constantly changing its name, to which he stated that the ship is playing 'hide and seek' with the Government. Alleging that the Chinese are somehow attempting to unload the consignment of fertilizer with harmful bacteria in the country, Hewage stated that the authorities who are responsible for this are the Ministers of the Government. Furthermore, citing the People's Bank stance on honoring the payment, Hewage added that the ship unloading the fertilizer consignment could result in consequences to the bank as well.
