EXTREME WEATHER: Ella - Passara Rd closed & Level 2 Landslide warning issued

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Road from Ella to Passara via Namunkula is completely closed, announced the Disaster Management Center.

The DMC said the road was closed due to the risk of trees and rocks falling onto the road due to the torrential downpour experienced in the Badulla District on Wednesday (3).

Motorists are strongly advised to use the Passara - Badulla Main Road as an alternative, said the DMC.

In addition, the Disaster Management Center said the Sri Lanka Police and DMC personnel are monitoring the situation.

At the same time, a LEVEL2 (Amber) Landslide warning was issued for the Passara and Ella Division Secretariat and surrounding areas.

The same LEVEL 2 warning was issued for the Ukuwela and Rattota Divisional Secretariats in the Matale District.
