Burglar beaten to death in Mulleriyawa during failed robbery

COLOMBO (News 1st); A burglar was reportedly beaten to death by a group of people in Mulleriyawa.

Sri Lanka Police said that three burglars had broken into a house in Maligagodella in Mulleriyawa on Sunday (31) night and threaten the residents while attempting to steal their valuables.

The residents had screamed for help and neighbours had rushed to the scene and apprehended one of the burglars and beaten him.

The two other burglars had managed to flee and investigations are underway to locate and arrest them.

Sri Lanka Police said the deceased is yet to be identified.
