COLOMBO (News 1st): The three suspects who impersonated Police officers and demanded ransom upon kidnapping an individual from Molewatte in Grandpass have been arrested, Sri Lanka Police said on Saturday (Oct. 30).

According to Police, the suspects had held the victim against his will, at a house in the Mabola area in Wattala, and demanded a ransom of Rs. 100,000 to release him.

Thereafter, the victim’s wife had deposited a sum of Rs. 100,000 to an account provided by the suspects.

The suspects had then released the victim in the Mobala area in Wattala, after giving him Rs. 1000.

Following investigations conducted based on a complaint lodged with Police, the key suspect behind the kidnapping was arrested and later another two suspects were also arrested.

The suspects aged 28, 35, and 45-years, are residents of Wattala and they will be produced in court today (30).
