Graduates to receive permanent appointments in public service

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Local Government and Provincial Councils says that information on vacancies for graduates have been collected from State institutions to given them permanent appointments in the near future. Its Secretary, J.J. Ratnasiri stated that this information was obtained to establish trainee graduates who have been recruited for training in the public service for permanent posts. At present, more than 53,000 graduates are undergoing training in the public service as trainees, and a majority of the graduates are currently employed in schools. The Secretary to the Ministry said that the Ministry is planning to absorb the graduates into the teaching service after conducting interviews. Secretary Ratnasiri stated that the Cabinet recently decided to place graduates recruited for training in permanent posts in the public service. Accordingly, they will be given permanent appointments soon, the Secretary added.
