COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology says that the highest rainfall of 90.5 mm was received in the Puttalam District, last night.
Moreover, Badulla District has received 57.6 mm of rain.
Assistant Director of Disaster Management of the Badulla District, Udaya Kumara said measures are underway to clear the roads in the area obstructed due to earth slips.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meterology says the low pressure area is still effect in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, heavy showers exceeding 100 mm could be expected at some places in the Western, Northern, North-central, North-western, Central, and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Trincomalee District.
Additionally, the naval and fishing communities have bee advised not to venture into the sea areas off the coast extending from Mullaitivu to Puttalam via Kankasanturai until further notice.
