COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government will bear the responsibility if the harvest drops, says State Minister of Agriculture Shasheendra Rajapaksa. Speaking during a ceremony to distribute fertilizer for paddy farmers in Badulla yesterday (23), the State Minister pointed out that the Government took steps to import the nano nitrogen fertilizer due to the risk of the harvest rate dropping. Accordingly, he said that the Government sought the assistance of other countries to provide a solution when the order for fertilizer from China revealed itself to be substandard. Denying that the Government could not import garbage from China even if it was attempted, State Minister Rajapaksa said that a subsequent request was made towards the Indian Government, after which the Government imported the nano nitrogen fertilizer to Sri Lanka. If the harvest drops, the Government will bear responsibility for it, he said, stating that if there is any shortage, the farmers will be compensated accordingly. " We didn't make any of these decisions in a hurry. We took these decisions with a proper understanding of the people," he added.
