Sajith & Patali inspect site for proposed Bird Sanctuary in Madiwela

COLOMBO (News 1st); Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa inspected the site for the proposed Bird Sanctuary in Madiwela, Sri Jayawardenapura.

The Opposition Leader observed the construction activities of the Bird Sanctuary in Madiwela, which is being carried out by the Urban Development Authority.

The residents of the area explained that a cabinet paper pertaining to the bird sanctuary was brought forward two months ago, requesting permission to carry out construction activities. However, the residents of the area allege that the construction activities have begun without permission.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa also inquired from the residents about the construction work being done in the area, to which the residents said that it has come to a point where they are having to pay for the location which they have been living for generations.

Moreover, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that with the involvement of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya lawyers they are hoping to find out more information regarding the construction site to protect the community and the environment.
