COVID-19 jab for A/L students in other provinces

COLOMBO (News 1st): Measures are in place to launch the COVID-19 Vaccination Drive targetting Advanced Level students in other provinces outside the Western Province this week, the Ministry of Health said. Steps will be taken to vaccinate students who are facing the GCE Advanced Level Examination in all provinces, starting from the 21st of October, Dr. Hemantha Herath, the Deputy Director-General of Health Services noted. "However, it might be practically impossible to commence the vaccination drive targetting A/L students in all provinces at the same time," Dr. Herath pointed out. Therefore, Dr. Herath urged students to wait until they are informed by the school or the respective Medical Officer of Health on the date and time of vaccination. According to Dr. Hemantha Herath, more than 60 percent of the population aged between 20 to 30-years has received the 1st dose of the COVID-19 jab, as of now.
