COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Under-19 team defended 228/8 to go 2 – 0 in the five-match series against Bangladesh Under-19, in Dambulla on Monday (18).
Bangladesh was bundled out for 227 runs in 49.2 overs, giving Sri Lanka the 1 run win.
Batting first, Sri Lanka got off to a slow start losing Jeewaka Shashen early.
However, opener Sadeesh Jayawardena (58) and Shevon Daniel (34) pushed Sri Lanka back on track.
Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals and posted 228 for the loss of 8 in their 50 overs.
Bangladesh Under-19 got off to a dream start with a 57 run first wicket between Mahfijul Islam (75) and Iftikher Hossain (36).
After the fall of the openers, the dominos started falling and they were bundled out for 227 runs with 4 balls to spare.
Bangladesh U-19 began the Sri Lanka tour in a disappointing fashion as the visitors conceded a 42-run defeat in the first game of the five-match one-day series against the hosts at Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium Friday (15).
Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka put up 228/9 in 50 overs with Pawan Pathiraja making the highest 67.
Raveen de Silva was the other notable scorer with 29.

However, the Bangladesh batters fared badly as they were bowled out for 186 in 46.2 overs.
Only Aich Mollah could make some impact in the match, hitting 86 off 93 with nine fours.
Sri Lanka’s Treveen Mathew wrecked havoc in the Bangladesh innings, claiming 4/29 while Shevon Daniel grabbed 2/21.
