Amber alert issued for strong winds and rough seas

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Meteorological Department has issued an Amber alert for Strong Winds and Rough seas. Accordingly, the Meteorlogical Department says that the wind speed can be increased up to 60 kmph in the sea area extending from Kankasanturai to Puttalam via Mannar, and from Galle to Pottuvil via Matara and Hambanthota. Since these sea area will be rough at times, Naval and fishing communities have been advised to be vigilant in this regards.
