(News 1st); British Conservative MP Sir David Amess has died after being stabbed at his constituency surgery in Essex.

British Conservative MP Sir David Amess was stabbed during a meeting today (15).

Police said a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

They said they have recovered a knife and were not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident.

69-year old Sir David had been an MP since 1983 and was married with five children.

Southend councillor John Lamb said the MP was operated on by medics at the scene.
