COLOMBO (News 1st);  JVP Vijitha Herath points out that a food shortage in Sri Lanka cannot be prevented.

Expressing his views during a press conference held in Nittambuwa today (13), Herath emphasized the importance of meeting the supply according to the demand for organic fertilizer.

He also stated that there is no proper process for supplying organic fertilizer by the Government.

Mentioning that the current economic situation has already paved the way for a food shortage to take place in the country, Herath sad that this is the reason production of domestic products has seen a decrease.

" Mahindananda Aluthgama has no foresight at all. He is the same minister who told us that we will not import a single grain of rice. He is still the Minister of Agriculture. Now they are importing rice without any shame. There is no use for the country or to the farmer with an agriculture minister who does not walk the talk." he said.
